Writing Tutoring in Gloucester – sessions for 7- 11 year olds

 Does your child love to write their own stories, letters or fact files? Or perhaps this is an area your child feels under confident in and would like some additional help in a supportive environment?

Here at BrightSparks tutoring we also have a passion for writing and would love to build confidence or even help inspire the next generation of authors or journalists!

Our writing tutoring in Gloucester is for motivated writers who want to take their writing to the next level. Writing club is a one hour session, focusing on developing writing skills of children aged between 7-11. In any session there will be a maximum of six students per hour. 

Tutoring is aimed at interactive lessons and word games to boost writing skills. We use inspiring writing prompts to spark the passion for creative, persuasive and informative writing. Writing techniques are taught and modelled by our fully qualified teacher, Michelle. 

Creative writing forms a large component of our sessions in which we focus on the following:

• Characters – building strong characters are the key to any piece of fiction writing. We think about the adjectives to describe them as well as inferring their personality traits through our writing. 
• Settings – creating vivid setting descriptions using imagery through language as well as incorporating the five senses into our descriptions. 
• Using direct speech correctly to create dialogue between characters. 
• Creating an interesting plot with twists and turns.
